n the history of human civilization, the index of progress and change has always been
judged by the emergence and acceptance of new thoughts and ideas.The value addition to
human society by ideas has brought about monumental changes in every facet of human
life. Whether it has been the Agricultural, Industrial or the Information revolution, ideas
have always been the critical link between the past and the present, while at the same time,
have defined the contours for the coming future generations.
The development of ideas have always been facilitated by the presence of visionaries.People,
who have in their own capacity contributed immensely in generating interest towards a
new paradigm of thoughts and perceptions. In the current era of globalization, knowledge
economies have emerged as centers of growth, collaboration, linkages and partnerships.
Today, we can very proudly say that India has emerged as a global major in the IT and
Telecom revolution that has encompassed the entire world.One individual who has played
a stellar role in facilitating this global brand positioning of India has been my dear friend,
colleague and guide, the late Shri Dewang Mehta.
